Introduction to SOSL

Summer of Service and Leadership, a project of Chicago Public Schools, is set to kick off next week. Ten CPS schools are participating. Students spend four weeks of summer learning about important social issues, building their leadership skills, and getting to know their new high school and communities. It's a great way to get ready for high school and for life as an active citizen.

Summer of Service and Leadership is a local initiative that is connected to national legislation signed by President Obama that encourages young people to get active in their communities.

The following CPS schools are participating this year:
  • Al Raby
  • Amundsen
  • Hope
  • Juarez
  • Julian
  • Kelvyn Park
  • Orr
  • Roosevelt
  • South Loop
  • Taft
  • Von Steuben
  • Whitney Young
Check in with us throughout the summer to hear about how our students are doing. We'll wrap things up on July 30 with a culminating event where the students tell us all about their great work over the summer.
